Animal capture and handling
I hold an approved Home Office Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 Personal License (PIL). I am permitted to carry out regulated procedures on living animals including Tamarin, Bat, Badger, Grey Squirrel, Birds, Deer and Seals under an appropriate Home Office Project License.
I have gained extensive experience in Animal Capture and Handling including work with both wild and captive animals. In particular I am proficient in handling seals and seabirds. I am also a trained British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) Marine Mammal Medic able to respond to animal strandings.
I am involved in wild animal capture and handling for the purpose of my research. Specifically, I deploy animal tracking devices (biologging equipment) to examine animal ecology and behaviour. This includes collecting biological samples, as well as weighing individuals to estimate growth rates. I have also been involved in projects monitoring population demographics.
