Emergency Procedures

Through this diverse first aid, remote fieldwork, and seamanship training I have developed excellent emergency procedure skills and an ability to work calmly in such situations. I am trained in the following emergency procedures and use of emergency equipment:

Communication:
  • Satellite phones
  • Electronic Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRBs)
  • Personal Locator Beacons (PLBs)
  • Flares (Parachute, Handheld, Smokes)
  • MAYDAY and PANPAN alert messages
  • VHF DSC Marine Radio Distress calls

Firefighting:
  • Fire extinguishers (CO2 gas, powder, water)
  • Fire blankets

Search and Rescue (Seafaring):
  • Deployment of sea anchor, casualty drogues, and traditional anchors (grapnel, Danforth).
  • Veering down on to casualties
  • Search patterns (Expanding Square, Spiral Search, Sector Search, Shoreline Search, Parallel Track)
  • White Parachute Search Flares
